本片由三段鬼故事组成的聊斋式商业电影。这三段故事分别是描写独居郊外的少女与其爱马之间一段意乱情迷关系的“马女”；描写朝代变乱时杀手于古厅追杀先朝流亡皇帝的“古刹”；以及描写虚情假意，口是心非的老禅师受不住良心谴责而丧命的“镜中孩”。
